I paid $4,100 to have my main seal, oil pump, and bearings done. I tell them that sense they have to drain the oil and coolant anyways... put fresh oil and coolant in when finished but dont bother with the filters, they were just done.

They tell me 2 to 3 days. I drop off the truck on Monday called Wednesday to see if they were done.

They tell me they having trouble getting the balancer off. They said it took them 7 hrs to pry it off. They finally finish late Friday. They tell me they replaced the balancer because the tech broke it.

Two weeks later I notice a oil leak on the front of the engine. I call a friend of mine that is a master tech in LA. He said he thinks it's the oil cooler. He order the parts and I take the truck to him. Not the oil cooler... Main Seal is leaking. When he gets it apart... the main seal is seated crooked, the seal cover is cracked, the belt pully is chipped on dented and the balancer they supposedly replaced... BS, the balancer was also chipped, dented and worped all from prying on them. The shop in LA back charged this shop $3,500 for redoing the repairs.

Also it appeared to me that there was to much oil in the engine. So I asked the LA shop to check the oil level efore draining. They estimated that there was two gallons to much oil.

It seems when replacing the oil as I has asked, they forgot that they were not changing the filters. (The filters hold about two gallons) So they put ten gallons of oil in my truck with two gallons already in the filters.

The LA shop made sure the proper amount of oil was in the engine when they redid it.

About two weeks after I got the truck back from the LA shop... My AC comp starts short cycling. I'm close to the LA so I take it back to them.

AC comp is short cycling because the fan clutch it not coming on. Through diagnostics they find oil in the engine harness. This happens when the oil level sensor goes bad. It's called wicking. The oil in the harness not only shorted out the fan clutch but also the high pressure swith and ECM.

I ask the LA shop as well as two other master techs if having two gallons two much oil in the engine made the oil level sensor go bad. All thee master techs answered the same. They cannot be sure, but most likely yes.

So, long story short. $3,500 back charged to Capital Truck and $7,800 out of pocket for a ECM , Engine Wiring Harness, Fan Clutch and High Pressure Switch.

Not to mention the $3,500 lost in revinew for the five days downtown for the original work, and another $3,500 in lost revinew for five days downtime to have everything redone.

So I am out a total of $15,800.......
    AWSOME MONTH!!! NOT!
