  Let me first begin by stating I do not typically do reviews or comments. However, in this case, I think a review is definitely do. Let me also state that I am a dentist so this is based on some medical knowledge as well. This will be a rather long review so if you do not want to read the whole write-up jus know that my total hip replacement surgery done by Dr. Thornberry was a life changing event for the better for which I will always feel indebted to him. I give him my highest recommendation.
  
  I had been in discomfort from arthritis in my right hip for over 3 years. I am from Jasper, Fl and had been seeing a number of doctors in another orthopedic group in my area for my problem during this time. The pain was very frequent during the entire day, sometimes severe and made everyday activities like putting on shoes and socks very painful.They had advised me that I was at a young age (currently 55) to be having hip replacement even though I had told them I had cousins younger than me that had already had hip replacement surgery. They wanted me to do physical therapy and come back when he got to where I was hurting to where I could not stand it.They told me I would have to have replacement at some point.(Let me state here that I had not gone back to that group in over a year so they may have been more open to doing surgery now than they were earlier). By this point I was in significant pain throughout a large part of the day with it being severe at times and I walked with a distinguishing limp, which my friends often commented on.
  I got Dr. Thornberry's name from a mutual friend and after talking with my regular physician decided to give Dr. Thornberry a call. I made the appointment and after looking at my x-ray, watching me walk, and listening to my symptoms he very soon stated it was up to me as to when I was going to have total hip replacement done but I would have to have it done. This was so much different than my previous encounters with orthopedists that I was caught by surprise. because I was just basically expecting to be sent home with a come back when you have to type of answer. I told him I was ready when he was and we scheduled at his first available appt 3 weeks later. Let me also add at this point, that I went to an orientation that Tallahassee Memorial put on and it was outstanding and i would highly recommend taken this short but informative program.
  I had my surgery done on Mar 4, 2015, walked across the hall the night of the surgery and in less than 60 hours after surgery was at home in my own bed. At 2 weeks and 2 days I was back to light work and walking only with a cane and at less pain than I had been in over 3 years. When I went to start out-patient physical therapy the therapist said there was nothing that she could to to add to what i was doing. At one month I could walk a mile without a cane and at 6 weeks had my mile time under 20 minutes. At 3 months I did a 5K walk in under 3 hours. When I went back at 4 months post-op and said I was having some occasional discomfort was told I was doing too much activity. When that is the worst report you get I consider everything a very good success. I know I was younger than most people that have the surgery, which helped with my recovery but I also did everything s I was told when I was told. I am not saying all of this to be bragging about myself but rather to be bragging on the excellent work that Dr. Thornberry did as that is what my excellent recovery possible.
  I know this is a long review but I wanted people to know from someone in the health profession how grateful I am to Dr. Thornberry and all of his staff (especially his PA Shannon) for my life so much better I at times cannot comprehend it. Everyone had time for me and believe me being in the healthcare field I had plenty of questions. In summary let me say again that I owe my deepest gratitude to Dr. Thornberry and would highly recommend him to anyone needing hip replacement surgery
